All-on-4 Implant Technique
The All-on-4 implant technique is an advanced implant treatment method designed to restore function and aesthetics with fixed prostheses in patients who are completely edentulous or have lost most of their teeth. In this technique, a fixed prosthesis is planned on four implants strategically placed in one jaw. This allows for extensive prosthetic restorations with fewer implants. The procedure is usually performed in a clinical setting under local anesthesia or sedation, and in cases deemed necessary, it can also be carried out under general anesthesia in an operating room.
What is the All-on-4 implant technique?
The All-on-4 implant technique is based on supporting a full-arch fixed prosthesis with four implants placed at special angles in the anterior and posterior regions of the jawbone. By angling the posterior implants, the need for additional surgical procedures can be reduced in areas with limited bone volume. This method allows patients to gain fixed teeth in a short period of time.
In which situations is the All-on-4 implant technique applied?
It is applied in completely edentulous patients, in individuals who have difficulty using removable dentures, and in cases where conventional implant treatments are challenging due to advanced bone loss. It may also be preferred in situations where additional surgical procedures, such as bone grafting or sinus lifting, are to be avoided.
Things to consider before the All-on-4 implant technique
The patient’s general health, existing systemic diseases, and regularly used medications should be thoroughly evaluated. Radiographic and tomographic examinations should be performed to assess the structure of the jawbone and plan implant placement. Maintaining oral hygiene, including brushing teeth and using an antiseptic mouthwash, helps reduce the risk of infection after the procedure.
Things to consider after the All-on-4 implant technique
After the procedure, medications recommended by the dentist should be taken regularly, and hard or hot foods should be avoided during the first days. Smoking and alcohol consumption are not recommended, as they can negatively affect the healing process. Oral hygiene should be maintained, and follow-up appointments should not be missed. Regular dental check-ups are very important to ensure the long-term durability of the prosthesis.
