JOINT DISEASES AND TREATMENT

Jaw joint disorders are caused by chewing muscles and/or the jaw joint. Patients may have pain in the anterior region of the ear, face, neck muscles and temples. Sounds may come from the jaw joint. The jaw may lock when opening or closing. Chewing function may be impaired. The jaw may open by sliding to one side. Causes of joint discomfort include teeth grinding and clenching, spasm of muscles due to stress, sudden or continuous minimal traumas, some systemic neurological disorders. As a result of clinical and radiographic examinations, jaw joint disease is tried to be identified. In treatment, the causes of the disease are carefully evaluated. Most of the joint diseases are treated with conservative treatments. In this treatment, a special plate is made with the measurements taken from the patient. The biting surfaces are specially arranged for the patient and used for a specified period of time. During the treatment period, the patient comes to the controls with the plate and the disease process is evaluated.
